Ok this freaks me out just a little bit.

Look at him, he’s even got a toothpick!

I won’t lie though, he’s no Tom Hardy. It’s hard to beat him out once I’ve fallen in love this way.

It had been about an hour before she decided to finally get down from that tree and retrieve her knife. She was paranoid to say the least. What if that unusually athletic man with came back and attacked her again? This time he surely wouldn’t spare her…
Rubbing her neck at the mere thought of what had happened to her, she unwillingly flashed back to the feeling of his constricting grip. The girl could’ve sworn it felt like the man had
clawsdigging into her delicate skin. Maybe she was just dehydrated and in a flurry from such a strange and eventful day. Slowly and very cautiously, Katniss lowered herself to the forest floor - half expecting that hostile man to reappear in seconds and rip her to shreds. Taking long, careful scans of her surroundings, grey eyes wide and nervous, she grabbed the knife as quickly as possible, keeping it in hand. She couldn’t stay here. It was time to keep moving, and far away. The young archer would find a new camp, and a hopefully safer one. Continuing on through the now much darker forest, she loaded her bow, keeping her eyes peeled and her senses alert. Maybe she should’ve just stayed in that tree…

He hadn’t been sleeping that long maybe twenty minutes at the most but something was keeping the feral on high alert otherwise he would of slept by now. Snapping awake Daniel sniffed around sensing something off he remained put in bed listening the usual noises within the cabin and the ruffles of the outside. That’s when the mutant caught the difference his son was gone. ”Shit…” he growled under his breath, heading outside quickly Dan spotted the small traces of footprints in the snow most of them covered with a new sheet.

Eben had lost tracked of how far he had walked he wanted to see that girl and make sure everything was okay but he had gotten lost. Unable to handle the cold like for instance his cousin Jack, felt an overwhelming hit of exhaustion. The young boy fell face first in a pile of snow.

Heavy, rapid breaths left her clenched teeth and flared nostrils. Saying she was scared was an understatement. Here she was, practically being strangled in an unfamiliar forest by an even more unfamiliar man who’s hands were the size of her face. Not the best of situations, but hopefully it wasn’t inescapable. The girl pried more, huffing in frustration and the severe concern of her fate. It couldn’t end here. Not now, not like this. She’d go with dignity.
Her free trembling hand clawed into the bark behind her in an attempt to grab something rather than be hovering in mid air. The other hand that was at work with tugging his relentless grasp from her throat now reached behind her back to grab an arrow. That was the moment luck was on her side. The young boy - who’s voice she previously heard coming from down below - shouted up to her potential killer. This boy, Eben, saved her life. If it wasn’t for his distraction and persuasion, her existence would no longer be relevant.
The second he released his vice-like grip, Katniss dropped quite a short distance, landing on a branch with a small grunt. Her hands instinctively yet gently touched the area he’d been choking her, rubbing at the bruising flesh. She
had to thank that child… But couldn’t risk the danger of being killed if she tried.

”Why did you try to kill her?” Asked the young boy being tucked into bed, the dogs had piled down on the edge as the covers were pulled up. ”Cuz kiddo there’s a lot of bad people out there want to keep you safe is all.” Replied Daniel he gave his son a serious look but one of love and intense protection. ”But she wasn’t doing anything dad.” Eben said back looking at his father challenging his stare. ”I know Eb, but daddy was just bein’ sure don’t worry about it okay?” Dan asked he leaned over pecking his son’s head before ruffling up Eben’s hair with his claws. Closing the door behind him he took a moment to breath going over what had happened in the woods shaking his head Dan entered his bedroom.

A little time later he couldn’t stand it anymore throwing the blanket off Eben hopped out of bed quickly getting dressed going the extra dressing for the cold outside. The young boy was determined to find out who that stranger was, giving Wilhelm a pat the young mutant climbed out the window. Eben landed on all fours in a pile of snow shaking it off he started running the knife he had found before tucked away in his back pocket.

A deep growl echoed in the back of the feral’s throat putting a little more pressure down Daniel snarled showing his fangs, however his train of thought broke when he heard Eben’s voice down below. ”Dad don’t kill her!” shouted his son followed by some barks from Wilhelm. Blinking Dan pulled back seeing what he was doing he didn’t know this girl but she could still have been a threat he snarled in frustration. ”Dad!” cried Eben after that the mutant yanked his clawed hand back yearing the loud gasps from the human. He quickly drew back falling down from the tree landing in the snow. Panting coming off the adrenaline high Dan looked at his son. ”Don’t do that again ya hear me?” he spat trying to catch his breath Eb quickly nodded pulling on his father’s arm to help him up, brushing the snow off Daniel scooped the child up signaling for his dog to follow, he didn’t look back for the girl. His tiny claws digging into his father’s shoulders Eben looked over his shoulder as he clutched onto the knife he found in the snow.
